Mommy’s Future
Mommy and Mimi were laying on the bed on Sunday morning, making up from an earlier fight a few minutes ago (for those who don’t know, Mimi and mommy fight a lot). The following conversation took place:
Mommy: Will you want me close by when you grow up?
Mimi: Yes (said firmly).
Mommy: Even if you have your own children and family, you still will want me around?
Mimi: Yes.
Mommy: Even if I am old and grumpy, you still will want me around?
Mimi: Yes.
Mommy: Will you be like me to buy a house so I can live with my mother?
Mimi: No, I will pay to send you to Kendal*.
* Kendal is the most upscale nursing home in Ithaca area. Majority of the residents are wealthy retired Cornell faculty members. I don’t think Jordan knows how much it will take her to send her grumpy old mother to this expensive place. It might be easier to keep me around.
