Shannon Park, here we come!!
The last two weeks have been like a dream for us. We had a wonderful week-long trip with HS’s family. Mimi had formed a good friendship with Michelle. Even though we stayed together shortly, those days will bring shining memories that will last for a life time.
The big moving truck along with 7 bulky guys came last Thursday to help with the move. It was not easy to move a house cluttered with stuffs from the last 12 years. With lots of pains and sweats (literally dripping), WE MADE IT!! Now we only have the basement and living rooms remained unpacked (and waiting for our dearest daddy to join the gift-opening party).
Forgive me that I will not post any photos of our new house for now. We do not want spoil the element of surprise for Mimi’s Agon and Ama (grandpa and grandma). They are coming in August and we will want to give them a surprise to see the house first time themselves.
With that, we still can share some snapshots from the moves.
The mover packed more than 200 boxes. They use countless padding papers to protect the breakables. Some of the boxes might seem very big but only contained small number of items because of the wrapping. I am not sure how many trees were killed from the move……. (Sorry)…
Here is a snapshot of our kitchen. There were about 20 boxes out there in the back that you couldn’t see. This is the first war zone I tackled. Done within the first two days….
More boxes to unpack.
I felt I accomplish quite a bit when seeing the empty boxes and padding papers piling up. It is a pain to get them out of the house when you have tens of empty boxes to lift.
Can’t do this without my biggest helper — Mimi. She was able to lift the big wardrobe box on her own (of course, empty ones). The size of the box is bigger than she is. From a distance, you only saw the box moving on its own….. Thank you my girl.
Mommy couldn’t cook without the kitchen supplies unpacked. We had our first celebration brunch at our usual spot — Ramada Inn. Mimi was STARVING!!
Me too!!
Because of that, Mimi is granted for special treat for sweets.
This is the very first meal I made at home. It was on Monday night. The menu was:
— Seasoned cucumber
— Pork with onion in Japanese style
— Steam vegetable
— Stir fried celery and carrot
It is not as good as what is served in the restaurant. However, for Mimi and I, we have been eating out for the last week. We were dying to have a home-cooked meal. I made three cups of rice and it was enough for one dinner for the two of us, a lunch box for me, and a very small portion of rice left…..
We are pretty much settling down. This is our dinner table. I took a picture of Jordan a few nights ago when I was preparing for dinner. She was doing some drawing she learned from Michelle’s class.
Dinner I made last night — cooked fish. Does the shape remind you something? I asked Jordan. She said it looks like lips and something else. But when I asked does it look like a shape of a country? She said: TAIWAN!! Good girl!
