Meet the Johnsons

Remember Jordan’s first job as a “Plant Watering Specialist”? We invited her employers, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson to our house for dinner on Friday night.

When we moved to this new neighborhood, we immediately felt that people are very friendly. Before moving to the house, Mimi and I knocked the doors of our new neighbors and introduced ourselves. We met Mr. and Mrs. Palmer and of course, Lucy’s family. At that time, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson were away for the weekend so we did not get to meet them.

The first week we moved, we saw Mr. Johnson in the front yard watering plant. I went to introduce myself. We found out that we both work at Cornell and Mr. Johnson (Steve) started his career as an extension educator. Therefore, he is very familiar with the place I work. He and Mrs. Johnson invited Mimi and I to their house for dinner. That evening, Mimi had a tour to their beautiful house. Mrs. Johnson (Lorraine) also introduced us the stories of the art works displayed at their house. It was a very nice evening.

A few weeks later, Mimi and I invited Steve and Lorraine to our house for dinner. I wanted to make something nice but will have enough time to serve for dinner on Friday night. Here is my menu:

— BBQ chicken wing in Taiwanese style
— Seasoned cucumber salad
— Stir fried shrimp with vege wrapped in lettuce
— Sesame cold noodle

It was Mimi’s turn to give Steve and Lorraine a tour of our house. The evening went very fast because we really enjoyed the great conversation. Mimi also showed Steve and Lorraine her art work from Michelle’s class.

My cold noodle with sesame sauce. I also have rice in shapes. What is missing? My cucumber salad was still in the fridge (for freshness) when taking the photos.
