Everyone Has A Girl Living Inside of You — American Girl Place
Mimi has been asking to go to American Girl Place for a while. They have different stores throughout the state and also an extensive on-line catalog. They have signature dools with historic significance. Recently, they have more diversity to the dools they are selling. I guess it is a pretty popular item among little girls (and a very profitable business).
We were heading to American Girl Place right after Empire State Building. Since both places are on the 5th Avenue, we decided to take a walk for a city tour as well.
I prepared some snacks and fruit for Mimi in case she is hungry. This helps with her daily fruit/vege intake.
Her one-serving fruit of the day.
We made a little rest at a chain store coffee shop. When we were there, there were a few people having their breakfast. I thought Saturday morning in the city will be quiet and less traffic. By the time we left (for half an hour, but still before 10am), the place was packed.
Because Mimi was still coughing, I thought some hot chocolate would be helpful. However, their soup looked very attractive so I ordered some for Mimi.
This girl wanted to stop at almost every store she could see. Unfortunately, her mommy didn’t come with a deep pocket. Mimi wanted to make a visit to the shoe store. Unfortunately, they were not open during the time we visited.
NY City Library was under construction. This is close to the meeting place when Cornell had the broadway trip. We were close by at least twice (once for Lion King and the other time for Mary Poppins).
Early Saturday morning, there were street performer showing sky fish technique. Not a topic that will attract people’s attention on an early Saturday morning.
Finally, we came to American Girl Place.
This is the dool of 2010.
Mimi wanted to have a doll that looks just like her. I thought they custom-made the doll based on the child’s appearance. As it turns out, they only offered 40 different proto-type. The major differences were the color of the skin, hair, and eye ball. The hair style also varies from doll to doll. Some girl would be able to find a doll that looks like her. Some girl will not be able to find one.
Did you find your matching doll?
