A Future Interior Designer — Mimi’s Bedroom Makeover
Mimi always loves to watch HGTV (Home and Garden TV). In particular, she is fascinated
by the stories of “makeover”, to redo an old house, a kitchen, or to remodel a bedroom.
She has been telling mommy that she wants to “redo” her bedroom. The layout of her bedroom has been determined since we moved in. Technically, it was the movers who “determined” Mimi’s bedroom. They left the furnitures the way they thought “worked” but hadn’t been ideal for Mimi.
Friday night, we thought we might put some actions into our words.
This is how her bedroom looks like now:
We talked about different options to re-arrange the bedroom. I found that Mimi really has some good idea on how to arrange her bedroom.
She didn’t waste any time and moved quickly to work.
Originally, she wanted to put her bed diagonally. After a few trials and errors, she gave up that idea — it’s taking too much space.
After about an hour of hard work, we finally determined how her bedroom will look like…..
Please ignore the pile of laundry on the dresser.
She wanted to have a “sitting area” in her bedroom to entertain her friends.
Saturday, mommy took Mimi out shopping for a few things, a bed setting (mimi picked the pattern, she said it was very much “Indian like”),
and an area rug. We almost choose another area rug with bright and beautiful pattern. But Mimi fell in love with this bed setting and decided to go with white area rug (with long carpet hair).
You see the bookshelf being placed diagonally again? Mimi likes to have variation to space. She always place her furniture this way when she can. What she didn’t know is that her daddy is like this as well. When mommy first met daddy, he had his desk diagonally in the room.
.
Mimi slept happily in her new bedroom (and new bed). She hand-picked two stuff animals to sleep with her. I guess that will be too crowded for mommy…… (we’ll see).
Good night, my girl. Great job and hope you have a sweet dream.
