Sound of Music — Mimi’s last orchestra performance from elementary school days….
Last night, we went to Cayuga Height Elementary School to attend Mimi’s band performance.
This will be Mimi’s last band performance before she goes to middle school. She has been learning clarinet since 3rd grade. She, along with her other 5th grade band partners, is considered senior members of the band. The graduating 5th graders were also recognized last night by their band director.
The performance started with 3rd grade orchestra. The band members were sitting on the floor waiting for their turn.
(Sorry my pictures were all blurry. I was trying to take photos while filming…. Not good at multi-tasking).
Those who attended NYSSMA festival were given a chance to play solo last night. The Band Director, Mrs. Karen Cushman started her introduction of the night:

Lucy also had her turn of playing solo. She played French Horn.

All graduating 5th graders were recognized at the begining of the band group performance. That followed the first two pieces: Dimensions by Ford and Chant & Gloria by McGinty.

It’s interesting to see the “press corp” formed by parents trying to take the best shots of their children’s performance.
