Mimi’s Summer Plan
As we move close to the end of the school year, mommy is looking for something fun for Mimi in the summer. She is going to continue her gymnastic practice for the summer. After that, she will make a decision to see if she will still continue her practice in fall….
Because of that, she will be occupied during the morning for her practice. There are a few other things we plan:
Drawing class — we will continue our drawing class with Michelle till July. Hopefully, the girls will start learning oil painting soon. After July, we will need to look for another good teacher like Michelle….. wish us luck!!
Piano class — we will focus on Mimi’s finger skills and scales during the summer. Hopefully, this will prepare her for a more advance learning materials when she moves to middle school.
Weekly band group practice — Mimi has decided to continue staying in middle school band in the fall semester. Therefore, she signed up for a group band practice every Tuesday and Thursday night for the month of July. Hopefully, we will be able to find a teacher for a private lesson during the summer to continue her study.
Swimming — this is something Mimi is very interested in exploring. We will start a few weeks of class in Y and see how it goes…. Too bad she wasn’t showing the interest when we had a swimming pool in the backyard….
In addition to that, mommy is going to sign her up for a few classes that will prepare her “baby-sitting” career. Hope she will be certified to be a baby-sitter before the summer ends.
Mimi also wants to participate the reading reward contest hosted by local book store. If a child finish reading 10 books before the end of the summer, he/she will receive a free book as a reward. I think she already have some books in mind that she wants to read.
When she enters middle school, she will join the advanced math class. That means that the class will teach 7th grade curriculum (and skip 6th grade). It will be a good idea to do a little pre-view of the 6th grade materials so it will not be too overwhelmed for her when the school starts.
Between these, and a few small trips (TBD) here and there, I think we have a pretty busy summer ahead of us.
