Mimi’s Clarinet Class with Alex

Last Saturday, Mimi started her first clarinet lesson with Alex (it took mommy a while to find a good teacher).  Alex is an Ithaca College graduate student (recently got her MS degree) and is the music director in Spencer School District.  Apparently, she has lots of experience working with children.

She has been giving Mimi quite a bit of exercises on her tongue and mouth piece.  She uses the language that is easy for children to relate to.  She also gave Mimi specific demonstration on pace and accence to enhance Mimi’s performance.

More importantly, she gave Mimi instructions on practices on her own.  This way, her daily practice will become more structured.

Overall, we have really good experience working with Alex and look forward to continue working with her in the future.
