Boynton Middle School Open House
Monday night, mommy went to Mimi’s school for an open house event at her school. Parents get to follow their children from classroom to classroom and meet with teacher and other students.
Mommy has been curious about how mimi is doing at school. Other than the volumn of homework, it doesn’t seem that there has been any big change in her life. She meets new friends and new teachers and seems handle that pretty well. Still, mommy worries…..
It is very comforting to go to the event last night. We met most of her teachers, Family Consumer Sciences, Math, Reading, Social Study and Science teachers are wonderful. They articulated their expectations and gave an overview of their curriculum. Mimi seems excited about her class and participated the discussion fully.
From my side-bar conversation with her home teacher, Mrs. Evans, it appears that mimi has been a strong student academically. Sometimes, she can be a little “chatty”. I guess like mother, like daughter.
Math teacher was making a point that she allows flexibility to students who are self sufficient and provides materials to enhance their learning. She was using an example of a student who was interested in learning 8th grade materials (negative exponent). After we got home, Mimi told us that she was the student the teacher was referring to who wanted to learn about negative exponent…. Wow, i am proud of you.
My dear, keep the good work. You will get the reward from learning some day.
(This is the area where they do the fire drill every time).
This is Mimi’s locker.
And it’s empty.
For their reading class, each student needs to do a one-minute reading minute. Yesterday was Mimi’s turn. Mrs. Amici said that she did a great job talking about checker board. I believe she practiced that during the weekend.
We also saw Ania last night. Although she is the new student to the school, it appears that she already knew half of the student population. Good job, Ania!!
Because of Mimi’s injury, she will have to take the elevator by herself. It’s a pretty scary experience to be in this confined and slow machine all by yourself.
