Mimi’s first fund raising

Since Mimi attended schools, there were numerous fund raising events where children were asked to sell products (cookies, T Shirts, etc) door by door to raise money for a particular cause (graduation trip, soccer team, etc).  For year, we haven’t participated any of these events serious — until now.

A few months ago, Mimi came home with a notice from our band director, Mr. Allen.  The request is to ask children to sell fruit to raise fund for the middle school band.  I know how serious Mimi is about her band participation.  Therefore, we want to support her enthusiasm and commitment.

She actually went door to door and solicited quite a few sales.  On Saturday, we were notified by Mr. Allen to pick up our order for a distribution to our “customer”.

The pick up site was at Boynton Middle School.  We didn’t realize that this is a multi school fund raising effort.  There were two middle school, one high school and one charter school participated the event.

This is just the peak of the iceberg.  There must be tons of boxed fruit piling up in the gym.

Does daddy look more like a looter?

Mimi was also a part of the team to collect her efforts.

These were our order.  Comparing to some of the family, these are nothing.  They had to drive a truck to load countless boxes of fruit.

Mimi has good customer service.  She made sure to deliver her order to door.  The first was for Vivek’s family.  Vivek also is a 6th grader in her school (and also attends orchestra).  Her mother was laughing when she saw the order Vivek’s father placed.  He didn’t realize that they already had 3 boxes ordered.  I guess someone is going to have fruit for every meal, every day for the next few weeks.

Carolyn was our second stop.  Apparently, someone else already dropped off their order.  There are a few children in the middle school selling fruits at the same time.  Thank you Carolyn trying to support them all.

Mr. and Mrs. Agnew was Mimi’s last stop.

Unfortunately, they were not home.   Mimi left a message on the box so they know it’s from her.
