Mamma Mia — You ROCK!!

Our friend, HS and her family, came to see the show a month ago.  Of course, we are following their foot step to the Winter Garden Theater.

I am always impressed by Broadway production.  Sophisticated people will find broadway show shallow but I enjoy the immediate emotion reflection.  The loud music, accustic sound effect and of course, the live performance is always appealing to me.

The only thing I can say about this show is that it contains all the right elements for us:  Love, mid life crisis, relationship, romance, tension, etc……  Audience (especially women) can easily identify him/herself to one of the characters.  You will see yourself in Donna and Sophie (or even Bill, Harry, Rosie, etc).

Abba’s music has been alive for decades.  Everyone can sing along, dance along the music.  At the end of the play, it was almost like a life concert.  People stood dancing and singing and deliberating your soul, even just for one night…..

I was especially touched by the scene when Sophie was getting ready for her wedding gown.  Donna was brushing her hair and singing “Slipping Through My Fingers“…..

I can’t help to think that there will be one day, I will be brushing the hair of the girl sitting next to me, fluffing her dress and getting her ready for another journey of her life.

(Of course, daddy probably wants to shoot that lucky bastard but still has to maintain a smile on his face.  The brutal part is that HE will have to be the one walking her down the aisle, not me….)

At the end of the show, Mimi wanted to wait at the back door for the cast to come out.  We saw Sky (Sophie’s fiancee).  Shortly after, Sophie came out.  Mommy used her cell phone to take the last picture of the day.  The cell phone’s battery ran out after the picture and concluded the day.

By that time, it already passed 11pm.  Mimi was nervous because Mommy told her that there will be no one on the street and will be very dangerous for the two of us to stay that late.

As it turned out, the financial district is still fairly active (not to mention Time Square — it is still shinging like day light).

We got home safely and Mimi almost fell asleep as she touched the pillow.
