Horse Race — Part II
Every horse and its jockey were under a close scrutiny by the audience. They want to make sure they place their money on the right winner. Before the game. a big board will list all the bets by horse and it is updated every second. Right before the game, when the announcement was made, you will see the money flood into certain horse. That is when the game is heated. People were shouting and yelling and cheering for their horse. In that 20 seconds, everyone seems to be hopeful that he/she will win home the money.
Of course, after that 20 seconds, many dollars went into air just like that……..
The gate was movable from place to place. Sometimes the horse race is on the the grass and sometimes it is on the dirt. We witnessed the gate being moved from one side of the field to the other side (very close to us).
It was about 30 to 45 minutes interval between games. We stayed for a few. This was the end of our first game. The horse was very tired at the end (some were even sweating).
The moving gate (on a truck).
See the blue sky? The weather was unpredictable that afternoon. Luckily, it wasn’t raining too bad.
