Happy Pumpkin Festival!!
Mimi and I stayed home most of the Sunday. In the afternoon, she decided to take a break from her reading assignment. She wanted to carve the pumpkin we got from Lucy.
This is not the first time she carved a pumpkin on her own. Last year, it was her first attempt to do this all by herself. Unfortunately, I didn’t have a chance to take a picture before the pumpkin was eaten by the dears in our neighborhood.
She has the process all figured out.
First, she went on-line to look for a pattern she liked. Since we don’t have the printer at home, she hand-drew that on a piece of paper.
Then she copied that pattern on the pumpkin.
Here comes the scary part — Mimi holding the knife to cut the tip of the pumpkin.
Once the tip is off, she removed the stem end which can be served as the cap. She then removed the seeds and pulps from the pumpkin.
More to go.
See how much she got out.
The finished work. Mimi insisted doing this by herself. I only help a little bit (mostly the first cut).
This is a great project for Mimi to do outdoor. It was sunny outside and not too cold. We enjoy this afternoon a lot. Hopefully, by placing the pumpkin on the top of the porch, dears will not come near it.
