Mimi’s New Art Piece — Pumpkin Festival

This week, Mimi finished what she had been working on for the last 3 weeks — pumpkin drawing.  Michelle asked each girl take something that they want to draw to the class.  She will be teaching them to draw a real object, instead of mimicing from another piece of art that had been interpreted by the creator.  This way, they get to put their own signature onto their art piece.

Mimi choose this pumpkin, a house warming gift from Uncle Jimmy and Mingfang.  This is from Corning Glass Museum.  Of course, the material is mostly glass.  The challenge is to capture the essence of glass — the reflection to the light, and shadow that are different from a real pumpkin.

I think Mimi did a pretty good job on the light reflection and details, especially the stems.

Another close up.

Meet the pumpkin — Do you see the similarity between the two?
