Mommy’s Friday Date with Mimi

There is no gymnastic practice on Friday and Mimi absolutely “refuses” to go to gymnastic camp for the day.  Therefore, Mimi and mommy came up with the solution — a Friday’s “home camp” for Mimi.

Friday morning, Mimi gets to sleep late in the morning.  After mommy and daddy go to work, she will be able to spend her free time at home.  She is asked to practice her clarinet and piano.  But she can use the rest of the time on her own.  She can choose between drawing, reading, doing stuffs — but no TV or computer.

I found that Mimi doesn’t get much “free time” of her own to do things that she really enjoys.  She would love to spend several hours working on her drawing, perfecting the finest details of her self portrait.  Or she would just lie on the sofa to read one of her favorite books (and she has quite a few choices).  Sometimes, I even found that she would enjoy playing piano.  Mommy needs to remind herself not to fill her time with all different activities.  Mimi is now old enough to take ownership of her own time.  I guess we both need to venture that a bit.

This morning was the first day that we started our pilot.  It seems to work fine.  Mommy called Mimi twice from the office to “check up”.  It seems that she is doing what she is supposed to.  Mimi was quite nervous the second time she got the phone call from mommy.  She said “mommy, i am not supposed to pick up the phone.  What if people know I am home alone?”

At noon, Mommy came to pick up Mimi for our lunch date — at RPCC (Mimi’s favorite).

Mommy was so happy to see this girl eating her salad!!  She was just taking “a few” pictures of Mimi.

Doesn’t she look like a super model?

Of course, she will not let go of the opportunity of making a waffle.  She couldn’t finish the whole waffle.  Therefore, she would only make a “quarter” of it.

She is not a stranger of using the waffle machine.  However, after she made one, she wonder around and made herself a serving of ice cream (and completely forgot about her waffle).

When the girl prance back with her ice cream, Mommy asked “where was your waffle?”  She realized that she had something burning left on the machine.  Mimi ran as quickly as she could to save her waffle.

Luckily, it wasn’t too bad.

But she even didn’t touch her waffle.  The quarter went into Mommy’s stomach.

Just before we were ready to leave, this girl got herself another slice of pizza.

And finished half of it before leaving the dining hall happily.

Mimi stayed in Mommy’s office for the afternoon.  She brought herself a book to read.  Mommy also brought her “summer homework” so she has something to work on.

Here is the girl in labor.

We both like our family camp a lot!!  This probably will go on for the rest of the summer.
