Piano Tuning
Our piano really needs a good tuning, especially after the move. Lucy’s mommy gave me the contact person of her piano tuner. His name is Charles Mayer. Charles came on Saturday morning. He gave Mimi a lesson about piano and piano tuning.
He has to use the red “belt” to tighten some of the strings so he can start tuning. This helps to set the parameter of his tuning. He has to listen carefully to compare our notes to the fork he brought. This is a job that requires very keen sense of hearing.
I can see Charles loves to talk. He gave quite an extensive lesson to Mimi. However, we don’t really understand the detail element of his job. One thing Mimi remembered is that when a tuning is done, the facility has to be as silent as possible. For that, Mimi forbid me to do anything that made a noise in the house, not even doing dishes in far away kitchen…..
